TEFL Course Overview
Our program provides you with the incredible experience of living in Prague while furthering your professional career with a TEFL certification. You will learn practical teaching methodology, grammar and phonology skills, interview skills, and public speaking skills -- and you will practice your new skills with actual Czech students. By the end of the four weeks, you will feel competent and confident to travel anywhere in the world and teach English as a lifelong profession or just a paid gap year!
On top of practical teaching experience we provide job assistance, networking opportunities with local businesses, and a program coordinator. Most TEFL teachers in Prague are placed in jobs after just 2-3 weeks of graduating.
Upon successful completion of the course, you can choose to stay in Prague and find a job teaching English, or you can combine this certification with one of our other teaching jobs around the world.

Throughout the TEFL course, each trainee will have the opportunity to teach and observe 10+ hours to Czech students. For each observed lesson, trainees will create and submit lesson plans which will be graded by a teacher trainer.
Throughout the course, trainees will be expected to fully engage in class activities and discussions. The Hello Academies' TEFL course is extremely hands-on, and requires participation on a daily basis. A trainee's level of participation will be considered for the overall mark given at the end of the course.
There are several small homework assignments assigned during this course, all of which will be part of the final mark. In addition, there are four more in-depth assignments that are due during the final week of the course. These will be fully explained by your teacher trainer, and assistance will always be available. These assignments include:
- Teaching practice and observation log
- Materials assignment
- Learner profile assignment
- Unknown language journal
Learning how to teach English in just four weeks is an extremely intensive process, and is meant to prepare you for teaching in the real world. Each day of this course is filled with vital information necessary for creating reputable English teachers. Therefore, attendance is vital. Trainees are expected to arrive every day, on time, with all homework and materials prepared. However, we do understand that things can come up. In case of emergency, each trainee will be allowed to miss 10% of the course (approximately 1 full day). Any trainee that misses more than 10% of the course without the prior consent of the teacher trainer and Program Coordinator will be immediately dismissed from the program.
During the four weeks, you will be introduced to and will practice the majority of the grammar components required to teach the English language. Halfway through the course, a grammar quiz will be given to test your knowledge to date and to help prepare you for your final grammar test. Each participant must pass the grammar test with a score of 80% or above. Study sessions will be available throughout the course. Passing the test at 80% or better is necessary to graduate from this course and receive your certificate. Any student that does not receive an 80% on their first sitting will have the option of retaking the test at an additional charge.
